How to Easily Export WordPress Website and Import to Wix

If you are currently running a WordPress website, then you know the struggle of trying to figure out where to host your content once it’s published. Thanks to the incredible power of WordPress itself, there is now an easier way to publish content and know that it’s going to work the same way every time. That way, you don’t have to worry about where you’re going to host your content once it’s published – you can simply use the same platform to generate the content and to host it. It’s the best of both worlds, and it’s exactly what WordPress is designed for. It doesn’t get any better than that!

The Import Process

Before you begin the simple process of exporting your WordPress website, you need to make a few things clear. First, you need to create an account on Wix, which is a cloud-based website host. You’ll use this account to manage your imported content.

While it’s totally acceptable to use some of the available free hosting platforms, especially since Wix offers a free tier, it’s important to keep in mind the limitations that come with free hosting. For example, you can’t install 3rd party apps or configure advanced settings such as security or backups. But since you’re already in the process of moving your site to Wix, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Installing WordPress To Wix

Now that you have an account created on Wix, it’s time to move your WordPress site over there. The best way to do this is using the Wix Import tool. For instructions on how to install and configure this tool, click here.

Once you’ve installed the tool on your computer, head back over to Wix and click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window to access the tool. From here, click on the “+ Import” button to begin the process of importing your WordPress site.

Depending on how much content you have, this process can take a while. While you wait, you can check out the progress by clicking on the “+” next to the “Importing” label in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window. When the import is complete, you’ll be presented with a success message.

Setting Up The Imported WordPress Site

Once the import is complete, it’s time to take a look at your newly imported WordPress site. From the Wix dashboard, click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window to access your imported content.

From here, you can click on the “Settings” button to access the WordPress Settings screen. On this screen, you can configure various settings for your site including the blog logo, the site name, and the language of the site. Once you’ve made any necessary adjustments, click on the “Save Settings” button at the top right-hand corner of the screen.

You can now click on the “+” icon in the upper right-hand corner of the browser window to continue to the front page of your new WordPress site. From here, you can click on the “Design” icon to access the WordPress dashboard which you can use to edit the content on your site or add new content.

WordPress is a powerful content management system and there are many options available to users who want to make the most of it. Moving your site to Wix and using the WordPress Import tool is a great way to make the transition quick and easy while still keeping all of the familiar settings and components of your existing site.
