How to Access Your WordPress Site’s FTP Folder on a Hosting Company’s Server

If you’re reading this, I assume you’re either a website owner or developer looking to take your site’s performance to the next level. You’ve heard of WordPress, the biggest name in web design and developer circles. You’ve probably also heard of the term “FTP” (or “file transfer protocol”). If you’re not familiar, the abbreviation stands for “File Transfer Protocol.” It’s essentially a way for one computer to read and write files to/from another computer’s hard drive. Most hosting companies’ servers are set up with this capability so you don’t need to worry about setting up a client-server environment to have access to your WordPress site’s files.

In this article, you’ll discover how to connect to your WordPress site’s FTP folder from a host’s server so you can begin taking advantage of its capabilities. Once you’ve mastered this, you can upload all kinds of files to the server, including media files such as images and videos. This will greatly improve the performance of your website. It’ll also allow you to take advantage of more advanced features such as the ones discussed below.

Find Out Where Your WordPress Site Is Hosted

The first step is to find out exactly where your WordPress site is hosted. There are several places you can do this. The most popular one is called Google Cloud Storage. What this means is that your site’s files are stored in the cloud, instead of on your computer’s hard drive. This is a relatively new development, which has made it much easier for websites to host themselves. All you need to do to find out where your site is hosted is enter its URL (Uniform Resource Locator) — typically the address you see when you go to a website — into a browser. You’ll see a listing of its files with the Google logo to the left of the URL. Just below that you’ll see a list of all the servers that are hosting your site. In most cases, there’ll be only one option below the URL, with the exception of multiple hosts serving the same website (such as for multiple domains).

Create An Account On The Hosting Company’s Server

Once you know which host serves your site, you can create an account on their server. When you create an account, you’ll usually be asked for a username and password. Make sure you use a strong password whenever you use a public computer or if you share your computer with someone else. It is also a good idea to choose a username that is difficult to guess.

Creating an account does not necessarily mean you’ll need to login to use the server. You can create an account and never need to login. However, if you ever want to upload files to the server or download existing files, you’ll need to log in to do so. This is because the server is where all the files are kept and you’ll need access to that folder to be able to work with them. You don’t need to worry about this once you’ve created an account because the hosting company will take care of this for you. They’ll set up a login screen so you can access the folder without having to remember a complicated password. This way, you can focus on what’s important to you – running your business or website and not on keeping track of logins.

Use A Free FTP Client To Access Your WordPress Site’s Files

After you’ve created an account on the server, you’ll need to download and install a free FTP client to your computer. You can download the FTP client from the company’s website and install it on your computer. Most WordPress sites use the popular FileZilla client. Once you’ve installed it, you can use your web browser to access your site’s files through the FTP client. In most cases, you’ll need to log in with your username and password. Once you’re logged in, all the files on the server will be visible in your web browser. You can use this client to connect to the server and copy files to and from your WordPress site as you see fit. You don’t need to worry about the server’s security because Google Cloud Storage encrypts all the files before they’re stored on the server. This means that even if someone else were to gain access to your site’s files, they would not be able to read them without the proper encryption key – something only you possess.

Make Sure You Follow The Right Steps

Now that you’ve got access to your WordPress site’s files through the FTP client, you can begin taking advantage of its capabilities. To do this, you need to follow a series of steps outlined below.

Set The Right Permissions On The WordPress Site’s Folder

The first thing you need to do is set the proper permissions on your WordPress site’s folder. To do this, you need to login to your site’s admin area and click on the “Clients” tab. From here, you can choose the “Add New” button at the top of the page. This will bring you to a page where you can add a new client. Once you’ve added the new client, you can navigate to its “FTP information” tab. This is where you can choose its username and password (if it hasn’t been preset by the hosting company).

Now that you’ve got that information, you can return to your WordPress site’s admin area and click on the “Settings” tab. From here, you can set the permissions for your WordPress site’s folders and files. Make sure you set the proper permissions for the folder – including the option to “Allow remote login” if you’ve enabled this feature – and then click on “Save Changes.”

Use The FTP Client To Upload Files To The Site’s Folder

Now that you’ve set the proper permissions on your WordPress site’s folder, you can begin uploading files to it. To do this, you need to return to your FTP client on your computer and click on the “FTP information” button on the tool’s toolbar. This will bring up your site’s folder in the browser window. From here, you can click on the “+” sign in the top right corner of the folder to bring up an upload form. You can use this form to upload files to your WordPress site’s folder.

By default, the upload form will allow you to only upload files of up to 2 GB in size. If you’ve exceeded this limit, you’ll need to use an FTP client with a larger capacity to upload the files. Some of the clients available for download from the company’s website include this capability. Remember: Always backup your files before making any changes. In case something goes wrong, you can always restore the files from your backup.

Use The WordPress Site’s Admin Area To Monitor And Control File Activity

One of the best parts of having an active and healthy WordPress site is being able to monitor and control its file activity from the admin area. To do this, you can click on the “Settings” tab in your WordPress site’s admin area and uncheck the “Hide files” box. This will make all the files on the site visible. You can also choose to turn on “Append.” at the end of file names so they’ll be automatically sorted in alphabetical order. This makes finding files much easier. You can click on the “FileZilla” tab to bring up the site’s files. From here, you can use the controls to monitor file access (generally permissions) and create folders.

Use The WordPress Site’s “Dashboard” To Monitor Key Performance Indicators

Another great thing about having a WordPress site is being able to check out its “dashboard” from the admin area. This is where you can access key performance indicators that will help you understand how your site is performing. To access the dashboard, click on the “Settings” tab in your WordPress site’s admin area and then click on the “Reading” option. This will bring up a link to the dashboard. You can click on this link to reach the WordPress site’s dashboard.

From the dashboard, you can access several key performance indicators that will help you understand how your site is performing. These include requests per second (RPS), revenue per month (RoM), and cost per month (CPT). If you’re curious, you can click on any of these indicators to bring up more information about the metric, along with a graphs that will show you the overall trend over time. Take some time to monitor and analyze these key performance indicators so you can fully understand how your site is performing.

Last but not least, we’ve got logos. In case you’re curious, you can click on any of the logos below to find out more information about the brand – including a link to the companies’ websites. When you’re done exploring their logos, you can return to the previous page by clicking on the top-left corner of the page.
