Changing Thumbnail on Pasted Website in WordPress

I have a WordPress website where I want to upload a lot of images. The original size of the images are quite small and I don’t want to keep making new smaller versions of them. Instead, I want to change the size of the images when I paste them on websites like Instagram or Tumblr.

There’s already a plugin that does this which I found on However, the images are always kept the same size unless you adjust them manually. This is quite inconvenient if you want to keep the proportions of the image when it’s posted on social media.

In this tutorial, we’re going to show you how to change the thumbnail of a pasted image in WordPress so that when you post it on social media, the image automatically adjusts its dimensions to fit the platform’s requirements.

Install and Activate Thumbnail Remover

First, you’ll need to install and activate the ‘Thumbnail Remover’ plugin on your WordPress site. To do this, click here and follow the on-screen instructions.

When the plugin is activated, you’ll see a new Thumbnail Remover button in the WordPress toolbar. If you click on this button, you’ll see a popup with a list of your recent images. Simply click on the image you want to change and the dimensions of the image will be displayed along with its original file size.

You can also change the thumbnail of a video or an audio file by clicking on the corresponding button next to the image.

Download and Install Twttr Image]( plugin

The next step is to download and install the ‘Twttr Image’ plugin from To do this, click here and follow the on-screen instructions.

After the plugin is installed, you’ll see a new icon appear next to your WordPress content when you hover your mouse over it.

To post an image on Instagram or Tumblr, you’ll need to set its dimensions manually. However, with the help of this plugin, you can pre-define the dimensions of the image when you paste it on a website. This way, the image will always be “Instagram ready” when you post it.

This plugin makes it simple to create and post ready-made Instagram and Tumblr images on your site. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to get started.

Upload Images to WordPress

The last step is to upload the images you want to use for your website. To do this, click on the ‘Add Media’ button in the WordPress toolbar. Once the image is uploaded, you can use the menu on the right side of the screen to crop it and add some basic information about the image (like its dimensions).

Repeat this step for each image you wish to use on your site.

Now, when you paste any of these images on a website, the dimensions of the image will be adjusted so that it fits the space available. For instance, if you paste an image that’s 468 x 324 pixels in size, the image will be scaled down so that it fits two columns on a website’s front page.

To view a list of your images and their thumbnails, visit your WordPress dashboard and click on ‘Images’ in the menu on the left-hand side. You’ll then be presented with a table containing all of your images and their thumbnails.

With these few steps, you’ll be able to easily change the thumbnail of a pasted image in WordPress. Just make sure to keep the original source file intact so you can always go back to it if you need to.
