Complete WordPress Demo Themes Website Builder
Themes are vital when it comes to creating an accessible website. Without them, your visitors can’t easily navigate your site and find what they’re looking for. That being said, creating a full-fledged, functional theme from scratch can be quite the feat. Luckily for you, we’re about to demystify the process and teach you how to create a fully functional, live website with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Step One
The very first thing you’ll need to do is login to your WordPress account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create an account.
Once you’re logged in, navigate to Appearance in your dashboard.
Here, you’ll see a variety of options that allow you to tweak the look and feel of your site. You can choose a free theme or download a professionally designed theme from themes.wordpress.com.
Step Two
Now that you have a theme installed, it’s time to build your website. Begin by navigating to Dashboard and then opening Builder. If you already have a blog published on your site, you can simply click on the Publish button in the top right corner.
This will bring you to a new page where you can enter all the details of your blog post. When you’re finished, simply hit Save. A success message will confirm that your post was saved successfully. You can then visit your blog to see it in live. (If you encounter any problems, you can contact support.)
Step Three
On your new blog page, you’ll see the Congratulations message from WordPress. Now, it’s time to populate your blog with content. You can click on the blog post section at the top of the page to read and explore your options.
Here, you’ll see a variety of blog posts from various authors. Each one of these posts is a great opportunity to link to other interesting articles or websites. To add a blog post, simply click on the Add New button.
Now, you’ll see a blank page with your blog’s content. This is your blog’s About page. In the left-hand corner, you’ll see some familiar names. These are the people who wrote the content you’re reading right now. If you’d like, you can click on the link to see the author’s profile page. From there, you can learn more about the person and what they wrote.
Step Four
You can repeat steps two and three for as many blogs as you’d like. When you’re finished, you can hit Publish on the last page you created.
This will create a new section called Blog on your main menu. Now, whenever you visit your site, you’ll see a list of your previously published blogs. From there, you can click on any blog to read it in full. (Or, you can return to the main menu, click on the Blog link, and then click on All Blogs to view a list of your entire blog content.)
This completes the basics of creating a WordPress blog. Now, let’s move on to the fun stuff. Once you have your blog set up and populated with content, it’s time to brand and customize your site.
Step Five
WordPress comes with a variety of pre-made themes that you can download and use for free. If you’d like to change the appearance of your site, you can use the theme’s design features to make your blog look unique and polished.
For example, if you visit mytheme.wordpress.com, you’ll see that this theme is already set up with a logo and a header that includes your site’s name and a short description. (You can choose to hide these elements by clicking on the theming option in your dashboard’s Appearance section.)
Now, let’s say you’d like to brand your blog with your company’s name. Simply go to mytheme.wordpress.com, log in, and then click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
This will bring you to your dashboard’s settings page. From here, you can edit the theme’s code to make changes to the colors, fonts, and more. (You can also use this page to customize various elements on your blog. For example, if you’d like to add a background image or video, click on the Media icon in the upper right corner to bring you to the template’s settings.)
Once you’re finished customizing the theme, log out and then return to mytheme.wordpress.com. From there, you can view the site. (If you encounter any problems, you can contact support.)
This is a brief tutorial on how to create a fully functioning WordPress blog. Not only can you create a unique website, but you can brand it with your company’s colors and logos.
