STEP 1: Register A Domain Name

The first step is to register a domain name for your new site. To do this, visit https://wordpress.com/ and click on the green Register button. In the pop-up that appears, enter a useful and descriptive domain name that you’ll be able to remember (https://wordpress.com is the example name that we’ll be using throughout this tutorial).

Once you’ve successfully registered the domain name, you’ll see two important links in the header of your WordPress dashboard: Blog and Sites. The first one is your blog. If you click on this link, you’ll be directed to your blog’s dashboard where you can see all of the content that you’ve published previously. The second one is your site. When you’re on the dashboard of a WordPress site, you can click on this link to be directed to that site’s dashboard. There, you’ll see a button named Build Now that will take you to the next step.

STEP 2: Install WordPress To Your Server

Now that you’ve got a domain name, you can install WordPress to your server. To do this, visit https://wordpress.com/ and click on the Install button. You’ll be greeted by a screen that will ask you to pick the location where you’d like to install WordPress. Since we’re installing WordPress to a local server, we’re going to choose the first option which is to install it

  • On My Server
  • Inside My Network
  • Manually

.

Then, click on the Continue button to continue the installation process. Once the installation is done, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can click on the Publish button to preview your site. If you’re happy with what you’ve created, you can click on the Continue button to move on to the next step.

STEP 3: Activate Your WordPress Blog

Once you’ve successfully installed WordPress to your server, you can click on the Publish button in your dashboard to activate it. This will create a space for you to upload and post content to. You’ll also need to set a password for this blog. To do this, visit your blog’s dashboard and enter a new password for the blog. Make sure that you remember this password as you’ll need it to log in to your site in the future. You can also choose to use your WordPress account to login to other sites as well, such as Amazon or eBay.
