I’m on GoDaddy CPanel and I Can’t Install WordPress

The issue I’m having is that when I go to install WordPress following the instructions here:

WordPress (.org) – (setup) – Install WordPress
and then try to login with the email and password I used to set up the website, I get a “This account is already registered” error.
When I register a new account and try to login with the email and password I used to set up the site, I get a “The username you typed is not available. Please try again.” error.
What gives?

How Can I Fix This?

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

(1) Reinstall WordPress using the instructions here (2).
Make a back up of my website using WP-Cli (3).
Delete my WordPress installation (4).
Download the latest version of WordPress (5).
Install the updated WordPress (6).
Log in with the email and password I used to set my site up (7).

I keep getting the same error: “This account is already registered”. So, I tried to create a new account using a different email address and password. Now I’m getting this error: “The username you typed is not available. Please try again.”

I’ve gone through all of this because I thought the issue might be that the email and password I used to set up the site are somehow conflicting with another account. So, I’ve reset the password on my existing account and tried logging in. Same issue. So, I tried using a different email account and password. Still the same issue. I’m completely stumped. I don’t know what else to try. Can anyone help?

I’ve tried all of the suggestions here and I can confirm that they don’t work. I still get the “This account is already registered” error when I try to log in with the email address and password I used to set up the site. I also tried creating a new account with a different email address and password. Same issue.

What else can I try?

I did some more Googling and found this blog post where the OP says he’s got the same problem as me and that the fix is to follow these steps:

So, I did all of those things and still get the “This account is already registered” error when I try to log in with the email and password I used to set up the site. What am I doing wrong? Why doesn’t this solution work for me?

Update 3:

I also contacted GoDaddy’s support and asked them if there was something wrong with my account. They said that everything was looking good and that I should check my email for the password reset email. When I logged in and tried to change my password, I got an error message indicating that the email I used to set up the account was already in use. So, I tried to use a different email address and still couldn’t log in. I’m totally at a loss here. I don’t know what else to try. Thanks for reading!
