The Problem

The default text in the preview window for a WordPress website is often poorly thought out and can give the unprofessional appearance that many bloggers and website owners find displeasing. If you want to ensure that your blog posts and website pages appear perfectly in your readers’ browsers, you might consider investing in one of the premium WordPress services that offer this feature as part of their plan.

Thankfully, there is an easy solution. The plugin called Simple HTML Code can be used to modify the default text in the preview window of a WordPress website. It can be downloaded from GitHub along with a demo website. Simply install the plugin, log in to your WordPress dashboard, and click on the gear icon in the top right corner to activate the plugin.

When the plugin is activated, you will see a small window popup with the question “Do you want to edit the content for this site?” Click on the “Yes” button.

The Fix

The next step is to open the WordPress Source Code in a separate window. The easiest way to do this is to click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the WordPress admin area. This will bring up the WordPress menus, which you can then click on “Edit” to get a new window opened for you.

Once you have the WordPress Source Code opened in a new window, you can click on the blue link beside “Simple HTML Code” to be taken to the project’s home page. From here, click on the button that says “Download Zip” to download the latest version of the plugin.

The next step is to unzip the download. You will find a folder inside with the name “simple-html-code”. Drag this folder to your desktop, and then double-click on the file named “simple-html-code.php” to install it. Navigate to the plugin activation page in your WordPress dashboard, and click on the “Yes” button when prompted to activate the plugin.

Preview

Once the plugin is activated, you can click on the “Customize” link at the bottom of the page to bring up the preview window. You will see a working copy of your website with all your changes. To add a description to the preview, click on the “Add media” button at the bottom of the preview window. You can enter a few words here to describe what the page is about. Finally, click on the “Save” button to make all your changes.

To change the preview text for a WordPress website, you must first log in to your WordPress dashboard. Once you are logged in, click on the “settings” icon in the top right corner of the screen to bring up the WordPress settings menu. Then, click on the “Reading” tab, and from here you can change the text for the preview to something more professional.
