How to Display a Both Logo and Title of a WordPress Website
A lot of people use WordPress to build their websites. Whether for personal or professional use, it’s a great choice. It’s free, it’s easy to use, and it has a massive amount of functionality. One of the reasons why so many people use WordPress is because of its many different features. You can use it to build anything you can imagine; whether it’s a blog, a store, or a corporate website. One of the reasons why so many people love WordPress is because it’s extremely flexible. You can use just about any web designer’s toolset and combine it with your own skills to create a unique experience for your visitors. That is the spirit in which this tutorial was created. Let’s get started.
Create a Theme That Includes a Title and Logo
One of the reasons why WordPress is so popular is because it comes with a built-in theme that is both simple to use and highly customizable. That is why this tutorial will guide you in creating a title and logo for your website while using the default Pure WordPress theme that ships with the platform. If you’re just getting started, it is highly recommended that you download and install the WordPress theme provided by the WordPress organization. This way, you will have access to a large library of free and premium themes to choose from, as well as all the necessary resources to make your website look exactly the way you want it to. This is also one of the main reasons why the title and logo you create will appear on your blog’s sidebar.
The Basics of Building a Plugin or an Extension
WordPress doesn’t only come with a theme, it also has a large collection of plugins that can enhance the functionality and appearance of your site. A plugin is basically just a set of programs that can perform a certain task. In this case, we will use the plugin called Better Search. With Better Search, you can rewrite the search function of WordPress so that it can search for whatever you want within your site. For example, if you want your blog to focus on fashion, you can use Better Search to make all the blog posts it finds appear in the Fashion category.
To use Better Search, simply go to the Plugins page in your WordPress dashboard and click the Install button next to Better Search. Once installed, you can click on it to visit the plugin’s settings page. Here, you can rewrite the search function of WordPress so that it can search for whatever you want within your site. For example, if you want your blog to focus on fashion, you can use Better Search to make all the blog posts it finds appear in the Fashion category. Once you click Save, you will be returned to the plugin’s settings page. You can click the Settings button to review the changes made to the WordPress search function. If you want to try out another plugin, click the Install button next to it to visit its settings page. Once there, you can click the Settings button to review the changes made to the WordPress search function. This is how you make plugins work for you.
Create a WordPress Page for Your Title and Logo
We will now use the information we learned in the previous section to build a WordPress page for our title and logo. This will give us a place for our website’s visitors to come back to and find more information about us. The easiest and the most recommended way to create a WordPress page is to use the Plus icon on the WordPress dashboard’s left navigation menu. This will bring you to a blank page where you can enter the text for your new page and choose a template from the WordPress gallery. Since we’re using the default theme provided by WordPress, this will load the Twenty Eleven theme’s content area. Now, let’s add some text to our page and choose a suitable header for our website.
To add some text to our page, go to the Dashboard page and click the Edit button in the header area. After that, simply click inside the content area and start typing. Once you’ve entered the text for your new page, click the Preview button to see how it looks.
Customize the Header Area of Your Website
The header area of a WordPress website is where the site logo sits and where the menu is located. We will now use the information we learned in the previous section to completely customize the header area of our blog. To do this, let’s go back to the Dashboard and click the Appearance button. Then, click on the Header option from the dropdown menu.
This will bring you to the header’s settings page where you can choose from a variety of headers (and their variants) to apply to your site. However, for this tutorial, we will just focus on the logo portion of the header as this is the most relevant part when it comes to our topic. So, click on the Logo link to display the settings for our header’s logo. You can enter the text you want to appear below the logo here.
You will now see a page with several logo options. For our tutorial, we will choose the Google Font Awesome 5 Free logo set because it’s both simple and versatile. Simply click on the Choose button to apply the fonts you want to use on your site.
Use the SITE_URL and THEME_URL Environment Variables to Your Advantage
In our last step, we will use the SITE_URL and the THEME_URL environment variables to our advantage. The SITE_URL environment variable represents the blog’s URL or web address. So, if we want to add a touch of color to our site’s appearance, we can use SITE_URL to get the web address of our blog. Then, we can open up a new tab in our browser and navigate to that address to see the site in its full glory. The THEME_URL environment variable represents the name of the current WordPress theme. So, if we want to use a theme called Corporate Office that ships with the platform, we can put this code in our site’s header:
To start, let’s go back to the Dashboard and click on the Theme option from the Appearance menu.
This will bring you to the Themes page where you can choose from a variety of free and premium WordPress themes. For our tutorial, we will use the Twenty Eleven theme because it’s one of the most popular ones among bloggers. Once you choose it, click the Install button to install the theme on your site.
Now, let’s go back to the Dashboard and click on the Design option from the Appearance menu.
This will bring you to the Page Design page where you can choose from a variety of layouts for your site. To add some color to our site’s appearance, we will use the Fiery Red layout as this will make our blog’s visitors stand out. So, click on the Fiery Red layout and then click the Install button to apply it on your site. Once done, you can preview your site’s new design in action by clicking on the Preview button at the bottom of the page.
Make Your Blogstand Out
We have now fully customized the look of our website. Let’s have a look at how it turned out. As you can see, our site’s appearance is completely unique. Not only does it feature our blog’s title and logo, but it also includes a versatile and innovative header design. As promised, this tutorial showed you how to create a header for your WordPress website that will not only look great but will also be completely customizable.
Of course, this was not an exhaustive tutorial on creating a header for your WordPress site. There are several other topics you can explore, such as how to add social media icons, how to add a search bar, or how to create a completely unique display using various fonts, colors, and WordPress blocks.
