How to Integrate a Matterport Link into a WordPress Website
Matterport is a 3D imaging service that allows you to create high-quality photorealistic images of your home or office that you can view and share in real life. If you have a WordPress website with a shop on it, you can integrate the magical Matterport Link into your website in order to show off your products in digital form. With just a few lines of code, you’ll easily be able to integrate this useful tool into your website. Let’s have a look at how to do this.
Step 1: Find a Useable Username, Password And Email
Before you start coding, you’ll need to log into Matterport’s website and pick a username, password and email. Don’t worry, these are all completely secure and you can use any email you want.
Next, you’ll want to create a coupon code that will be valid for any purchase made within the next 30 days. To do this, simply enter the code “demo” during checkout and the total amount will be discounted by 10%. This code is only valid for the next 30 days and can be used just once.
Step 2: Include The Matterport Javascript File In Your Website’s Header
Next, you’ll need to include the Matterport javascript file in your website. To do this, navigate to your website’s header and click “add new”. Then, navigate to the “Resources” section and click the “Add Resource” button. Finally, scroll down and you’ll see a section called “External Resources”. Click the “Add Resource” button next to this section and you’ll see a pop-up asking you to browse and select the javascript file you want to include. Navigate to the “Resources” section of your WordPress dashboard (under administration –> tools –> click “External Resources”) and you’ll see the file you just selected. Click the “Update” button at the top right corner to save the changes.
Step 3: Add The Matterport Iframe Tag To Your Website’s Body
If you don’t want to integrate the full Matterport application into your website, you can always use iframes to showcase a short video. To do this, navigate to your website’s body and click the “add new” button. Then, navigate to the “Body” section and click the “Add Another Row” button at the top of the page. Finally, scroll down and you’ll see a section called “Additional Elements”. Click the “Add Another Element” button and you’ll see a pop-up asking you to choose an iframe from a list of pre-made templates.
Select the iframe template you want to use and then click the “Add to Row” button at the top right corner to add it to your body.
Step 4: Link To The 3D Imagery On Your WordPress Blog
Once you added the iframe tag to your website’s body, you can start creating content that will be displayed inside it. The simplest way to do this is to link to the 3D imagery that you created on your Matterport page. To do this, navigate to your WordPress blog’s front page and look for the little orange icon next to your post’s title. This will show you the post’s source, which is the link to the Matterport page where you can find the 3D image. From here, you can navigate to the “About” page of this blog and find the section where I list my favorite things. Beneath that, you’ll see a small video that will autoplay whenever someone visits this page. Just click the “X” in the upper right corner to close this video out (you don’t have to if you don’t want to, it’s just an example).
I added a short bio about myself at the top of this page so you can get a better sense of who I am as a person. In order to showcase my favorite things, I decided to create a list of digital products that I use regularly. You’ll notice that I’m not using hyperlinks in this section because I don’t want anyone to accidentally visit another website when they click on my list items (it happens all the time, people love clicking on ads, even when they’re trying to read a blog post). Instead, I’ve hidden my list items behind “buy buttons” that will take the user directly to Amazon’s website where they can purchase the item.
Step 5: Test The Setup
Once you added all the necessary code to your website, it’s time to test it out and make sure everything is working correctly. To do this, visit your website in a private browser window and click the little “i” button in the top left corner. This will show you a menu with options for English and French. Click the “Choose Language” option and you’ll see a screen similar to the one below.
If you speak French, you can click the “Sélectionner la langue” option to switch to French. Otherwise, click the “English” option to switch to English. You’ll see a screen with information on the language pack you’re using and a button that says “Continue”. If everything looks good, click the “Install” button to finish setting up the matterport link.
This is the final step. Now that your matterport link is set up, you can start placing it on your blog posts and social media spots in order to showcase your products in a new light. You can also use the link in online stores like Amazon and eBay if you sell your own products online –> this is an easy way to get people to your site if they’re looking for your products (if you have a shop on Etsy, you can use their “Store Discoverability Tool” to find the best spots for your store).
