How to Easily Migrate a Wix Website to WordPress

Over the years, Wix has built up a devoted community of over 500 million users around the world. Known for its easy-to-use drag-and-drop website builder and its emphasis on simplicity, the Berlin-based company also offers a marketplace for independent contractors, a vacation rental site, and a customizable shopping center. And while it was initially focused on the online world, Wix also offers a wide range of web and mobile apps that can be accessed from anywhere. With all these options, it’s no wonder that so many people have chosen to build and grow their own websites using Wix.

Launching a website has never been easier, thanks in part to the company’s migration tool. This nifty tool makes it simpler for anyone to migrate a Wix website to WordPress. Follow these steps and by the end of the process, you’ll have a fully functioning WordPress website ready to update and grow with minimal effort.

Step one: Choose the right hosting plan

An important first step in the process is to choose the right web hosting plan for your needs. As the name implies, shared hosting is ideal for those who are still learning how to manage a website. It’s affordable and accessible, especially if you’re just getting started. Plus, with shared hosting, you don’t need to worry about storage space because all websites on the same server share the same space. This is great if you’re low on disk space but need the simplicity of a shared hosting plan.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have the professionally managed dedicated hosting, which offers a higher level of service and control for those who need it. With this type of hosting, you’ll need to pay more upfront but will save plenty in the long run due to the increased performance and security. If you’re looking to start a blog or a business website, this is the perfect choice.

Step two: Set up your domain name

The second step is to set up your domain name. For most people, this is the part that can be the most frustrating. You can either register a new domain name or transfer an existing one. In our case, we’ll be using the second option to keep things simple. To do this, visit the following link and provide your email address:

Once you register your domain name, you’ll receive an email from GoDaddy with further instructions. These instructions will walk you through the process of installing WordPress to launch your site.

Step three: Install WordPress

The final step is to install WordPress. To do this, click on the following link:

This will take you to a screen that will guide you through the install process. Note: make sure that you’re logged in to your WordPress account before starting the process. You can also choose to install the WordPress mobile apps if you have a mobile device.

Step four: Activate WordPress

Once WordPress is installed, you’ll need to activate it. To do this, click on the following link:

This will take you to a screen that will guide you through the activation process. Note: make sure that you’re logged in to your WordPress account before starting the process. You can also choose to activate the WordPress mobile apps if you have a mobile device.

Step five: Create your website

Now that your WordPress installation is complete, you can start creating your website. To do this, visit the following link and log in with your WordPress credentials:

If you have a service like Wix, you can create a truly unique website in no time. Simply follow the prompts to choose a template, add content, and customize the page as much as you want. In our case, we wanted to create a blog, so we selected the Blog option which is a free option. You can always switch to a different option once you’re done or go back and edit your content at any time.
