How to Remove Comments in WordPress: A Step-by-Step Guide

Comments are a wonderful thing. They give online forums personality, engage audiences, and expose potential issues with your content. However, when you get too many comments, you run the risk of annoying your readers.

Fortunately, you can remove comments in WordPress. Here’s how.

Step 1: Visit the WordPress Dashboard

First, you’ll need to log into your WordPress dashboard. To get there, click on your WordPress site’s “dashboard” (on the left side of the screen) and then click the “admin” button at the top of the resulting screen. From there, you’ll be able to manage all aspects of your website, including commenting (see below).

If you’ve never used the WordPress dashboard, it might feel a little daunting at first. The good news is that all you need to know you can find in the WordPress documentation. Simply search for “dashboard” and you’ll be presented with the information you need.

Step 2: Switch to the Comments section

Now that you’re in your WordPress dashboard, click on the “Comments” link in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.

This will switch you to the comments for your blog post. At this point, you can either leave comments for the article or delete them. If you decide to keep them, make sure you click the “moderate” button next to each comment to approve it. Otherwise, they’ll disappear once you click the “publish” button.

Step 3: Remove unwanted comments

To remove unwanted comments, simply click on the “X” button at the end of each comment. You’ll see a red “Delete” button at the bottom of each comment. Once you delete a comment, it will be removed from the site.

If you’re feeling extra generous, you can also hide comments using the built-in functionality in WordPress. Simply click on the “More” icon at the end of each comment and then click “hide” to make it disappear on the site.

While this may seem like a lot of work to remove comments, it’s worth it. If you want to make sure you don’t upset your readership, remove all comment sections from your content. Doing this will make your articles much more accessible and appreciated.
