How to Start a New Blog on Your WordPress Website Using File Manager
A few months ago, I decided to try something new. Not only was it something new, but I also decided to do it on my own. I have always been a fan of making things happen for myself, especially when it comes to my own blog. There were a few steps to follow in order to make this new endeavor happen, but after some careful planning and maneuvering, I was able to put a brand new blog on my WordPress website in just a few short days.
Step 1: Set Up Your New Blog With WordPress.com
I started by going to WordPress.com. I love the fact that WordPress.com is completely free. What I mean by this is that you don’t need to worry about paying for hosting or buying a domain name. You can set up a new blog on your WordPress website using the platform’s easy to follow installation instructions. Once you have WordPress installed on your website, it’s time to move on to the next step.
Step 2: Choose A Blogging Theme For Your New Blog
I found and downloaded the Twenty Nineteen blogging theme from Themeforest. This is one of the few blogging themes that allow you to choose a different header and sidebar for each blog post. What this means is that you have complete control over the way your blog looks. If you are the type of person who likes things to be organized and styled, then this theme is for you. It also has a modern and elegant design that will make your blog stand out. When choosing a theme, make sure that you check out the theme’s documentation as well as the developer’s site for support.
Step 3: Customize Your New Blog With Theming Options
With Twenty Nineteen, it is very easy to completely customize the way your blog looks. There are tons of options available when it comes to theming. Some of the things you can do with this theme are change the layout, add pages, and even move the site’s sidebar. If you are looking for an easy way to design your blog, then Twenty Nineteen is an option to consider. However, if you are looking for a fully featured blog that offers advanced customization options, then it is better to look at other options.
Step 4: Install WordPress Plugins To Customize Your New Blog Further
Once you have the basics taken care of, it’s time to start plugging in additional features. For my blog, I decided to install the Instagram and YouTube Facebook integrations. Installing WordPress plugins is simple. All you need to do is visit the Plugins section of your WordPress admin area and click on Install. After that, you will need to wait until the plugin is activated. Finally, you will need to visit your blog’s Settings page and click on Update to save these changes.
Step 5: Organize Your New Blog With Supereasy
Now that you have a functional and well-organized blog, it’s time to take things up a notch. It’s time to install Supereasy, a free product from One More Website. What this plugin does is it allows you to create a fully fledged shopping blog. What this means is that you can take advantage of the platform’s built-in eCommerce features and sell your products online. The best part about this plugin is that it is completely free. All you need to do is go through the installation process, which is simple. After that, you will need to create an online store and start selling your products.
Step 6: Promote Your New Blog With Blogger.com
Last but not least, we have Blogger.com. If you have a Blogger account, this is the perfect place to promote your new blog. When I first opened up a Blogger account, I immediately started receiving emails from the platform’s marketing team, asking me to promote certain blogs. With Blogger.com, you don’t have to worry about banner adverts appearing on your blog. What this means is that you can monetize your blog without the need to resort to adverts. This method allows you to set up monetized blogs completely free of charge. Once you have a Blogger account, all you have to do is click on Get Started, create a new blog, and start publishing content.
I would recommend using a tool like Hootsuite to connect with other bloggers and to find content to promote. It’s important to remember that a lot of this content will come from established bloggers, which means you will need to prove that you are worthy enough to gain their attention.
