My WordPress Website on GoDaddy Shows Scrambled
If you’re new to the world of website creation, you’ll need a place to start. Fortunately, GoDaddy offers some fantastic templates to help you get a basic site up and running within minutes. We’re going to use one of these templates for our tutorial. The best part? It’s free.
Why GoDaddy’s Website Builder?

The best part is, they’ll even set up the domain for you (if you don’t have one yet). If you’re looking for a way to create a professional-looking website without needing any coding knowledge, then this is the perfect tool for you.
GoDaddy also offers various plans that include free domain privacy, free backups, and free domain renewals. If you want to take your site’s functionality to the next level, or just want to keep your site secure, then these plans are for you as well. You can find more details about their offerings on their website.
What Are the Essential Website Building Blocks?
If you’re brand new to website creation or just need a refresher, here are some of the basic building blocks that you’ll need to know when constructing a professional site:
- Header: This is the area of the website that shows at the top of the page. It usually contains the logo, navigation links, and other relevant text such as the company’s name. You’re encouraged to use H1 and H2 tags to make your headers more visually appealing.
- Paragraph: This is the area of the page that holds the main content. Whether you have a piece of text or an image, a few paragraphs give the impression of depth and substance to your site.
- Footer: This area of the website is located at the very end of the page. It contains links to various pages of the site as well as the social media buttons such as Facebook and Twitter.
Now that you know the fundamentals of constructing a website, let’s get started.
Step One: Log In To Your GoDaddy Account
Whether you’ve built websites for fun or for business, the first step is always the same: you need to log in to your GoDaddy account. From here, you can create a new website, or you can choose to use one of the existing templates. We’re going to use one of these pre-made websites for our tutorial. You can find the link to the sign-up page in the email we just received from GoDaddy.
Step Two: Choose A Template That Suits Your Needs
Once you’ve logged in to your GoDaddy account, you’ll be presented with a variety of pre-made templates. These templates are quick and easy to use, but they don’t come with any specific features installed. To get started, click on the WEBSITE TEMPLATES button in the top row of the dashboard.
From here, you can navigate to the COMMUNITY TEMPLATES section where you can find the ones that suit your needs. We’re going to use the BUSINESS option since it comes with a feature that we need for this tutorial. You can click on the BUSINESS option to view the full list of templates.
Step Three: Customize The Template With Your Own Information
Once you’ve found the perfect template, you need to start customizing it with your own information. For our tutorial, we’re going to use the basic HTML of the template and insert some text and images into it.
GoDaddy provides you with a code that you can copy and paste into the HTML of your template. Don’t worry, they’ve already given you the code! Just follow these instructions:
- Under the HTML heading, click on the edit button to go into HTML source code.
- Find and copy the HTML code that begins with <head>.
- Paste it below the copy of <head>.
- Now, find and copy the code that begins with <h1> and paste it below the copy of <h1>.
- Find and copy the HTML code that begins with <h2> and paste it below the copy of <h2>.
- Find and copy the HTML code that begins with <p> and paste it below the copy of <p>.
- Click on the Save Draft button to continue.
Step Four: Test Out Your Site In Different Browsers
Now that you’ve made all the necessary edits to your template and tested it in different browsers, it’s time to make the final tweaks and test it out in the real world. To do this, you’ll need to open up a fresh browser window and enter your site’s URL (i.e. `http://mysite.com`) into the address bar. If all goes well, you’ll see a screen similar to the one below.
If you’ve ever worked with HTML code before, you’ll know that its <h1> tags, <strong>, and <p> tags are case-sensitive. Make sure you type them correctly.
As you can see, there are several different browsers listed. This means that even though you tested your site in one browser, it might not look the same in another. Different browsers display websites differently, so to ensure that everything looks perfect, you’ll need to test your site in a variety of browsers.
What If I Don’t Want To Use A Pre-Made Website?
If you really want to get started creating your own website, you don’t have to use one of GoDaddy’s pre-made templates. You can use their easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions below to build your own website from the ground up.
Even better, you can use a service such as WordPress to create your site and then use GoDaddy’s Website Builder to customize it. With WordPress, you can install various plugins that will give you extra features and functionality. One of the best features of WordPress is its vast community of developers and creators who are always happy to help out new users.

Step One: Download And Install WordPress
GoDaddy has officially approved our website for publication, so let’s get started by installing WordPress onto your computer. To do this, visit their website and click on the Get Started button in the top-right corner of the page. This will take you to a download link for WordPress.
Once you’ve downloaded the WordPress installer, unzip it to save the setup file somewhere on your computer. Now that you’ve got the file, run it on your computer.
You’ll need to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. When this is done, you’ll see a blue box at the top of the page with the heading Welcome to WordPress.
Step Two: Create Your Blog
Once you’ve installed WordPress, it’s time to create your blog. To do this, click on the Create a Blog button which is located in the left-hand column of your WordPress dashboard. You’ll then be directed to a screen where you can choose a blog name and create a new blog with a few clicks of the mouse.
