How to Change the Picture on Your WordPress Blog
Do you have a WordPress blog and would like to change the picture on your blog every now and then? Do you want to experiment with different images and see how your readers react? If so, this article is for you! Here, we will give you some tips on how to change the image on your WordPress blog so you can update your content more frequently and engage your readers more.
Find A Theme That Suits
As we mentioned above, WordPress is a widely used content management system (CMS) that powers millions of blogs around the world. WordPress supports multiple image sizes and edits, meaning you can create a unique style for each of your blogs. Even more WordPress-savvy users may choose to use a child theme, which is a stripped down version of the theme you’re used to working with. A child theme makes it easier to experiment with different looks and tones since all the relevant styling information is already there for you.
For our example, we will be using the Bohemian Pro WordPress theme by StudioPress. Since it’s a popular choice among bloggers, you’ll find a lot of information online if you search for it. As you can see from the screenshot below, the theme comes with a lot of features built in, making it suitable for any type of blog you may have.
Install The Correct WordPress Plugin
Once you’ve found a theme that suits your blog, you need to install the WordPress plugin that comes with it. Plugins make using WordPress easier and more convenient by giving you additional features and functionality. Fortunately, it’s very easy to install plugins via the WordPress dashboard. From there, you can see a list of the most popular plugins and click on the green button to install them on your blog. Once installed, you can access the plugin menu from any post or page and use the features as you see fit.
Edit The CSS For The Correct Image
Now that you have a theme and a plugin installed, it’s time to edit the stylesheet that comes with them. This is where you can add all the changes you want to make to the default look of the theme, as well as add any custom colors or textures you may want to use. You can use any text editor you want to edit the CSS file, but we will be using the built-in WP dashboard to make our life a little easier. Simply navigate to Appearance>Style and click on “Edit CSS”.
In the CSS editor, you can see all the styles for the current theme. Beneath the style.css file, you’ll see a series of folders named after the different parts of the theme that you can edit. For example, if you’re editing the Header section, you’ll see three folders: Header, Navigation, and Footer. Simply go through each of these folders and remove or add the code from the appropriate section you want to edit. Remember: If you remove any code, you will lose the corresponding functionality from the site. After you’ve made your changes, click on the “Update Header” button at the top to apply your changes.
Use The Blog As You Would Use A Brochure
Once your blog’s design is looking the way you want it, it’s time to use it! Since your readers won’t have a hard time finding what they’re looking for, you should try to give them a pleasant experience by creating a clean blog filled with useful information. To do this, you need to add more content to it! When we talk about content, we’re talking about words, sentences, and paragraphs that you can use to tell a story or provide valuable information. For example, if you’re writing about fashion, you could talk about the best places to find the latest trends, how to dress stylishly for your body type, or how to create a capsule wardrobe. Basically, content will help your readers get to know you and your blog better by providing them with useful information or a story that interests them.
To bring more content to your blog, you have two options: You can add more posts or you can add an advertorial piece from a reputable company. The first one is usually the more popular one, as adding more content to your blog makes it more engaging and keeps your readers interested. However, the second option can be more profitable, as companies will pay you to blog about their products. In most cases, you’ll need to have a minimum payout of at least 2000 USD to take advantage of this option, but the benefits of having your own advertorial platform outweigh the cost. Here are some advantages to having your own advertorial platform:
- No traffic is generated from organic searches.
- You can add additional banners, galleries, and content as often as you like.
- You can select the topics you want to write about.
- You can work remotely.
- You can engage with readers more fully by including multimedia.
- You can build a reputation as a thought leader in your industry.
Experiment With Different Images
Now that you have a functioning blog, it’s time to experiment with different images to see how they look. You can use a free image host like Pixabay, which offers high-quality, free images you can use with no restrictions. As we mentioned above, all images on your blog are stored in the Media Library, which is accessed via the dashboard. Simply find the image you want to use and click on the image to see its download options. In most cases, you’ll see three buttons:
- Set featured image
- Set upload avatar
- Set download avatar
If you choose to set the featured image, this will be the image that will appear at the top of your blog’s homepage and in any post or page that has a featured image set as its header or body. You can also choose to use your avatar, which will appear on your blog’s login screen. For our example, we will choose to use a free image found on Pixabay, called “Coffee & Cream” by Nubia Robinson. As you can see from the image above, it’s a simple yet beautiful picture of a woman sitting at a cafĂ©, drinking a coffee and enjoying a little cream on its surface. Beautiful, right?
There you have it. Just a few steps to change the picture on your WordPress blog. As you can see, it’s not that hard. Once you have your blog set up the way you want it, the first thing you should do is add more content to it. Then, you can start experimenting with different images and see how your readers react. What’s important is that you find something that suits your blog and that you can be proud of.
