How to Create a Website Using WordPress
Looking for a way to create a website without knowing how to code? Want to learn how to create a quality website using the world’s #1 content management system, WordPress? If so, this article is for you!
In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about creating a website using WordPress.
The Necessary Tools
Before you can start building your website using WordPress, you need to have the necessary tools installed on your computer. In addition to the WordPress software, you will need a domain name, a web hosting account, and ftp (file transfer protocol) access. You can use Bluehost’s Free web host to launch your WordPress site.
If you are looking for a free web host, then Bluehost is a great choice because not only do they offer a free domain with every account, but they also provide you with a WordPress installed on their web servers. You won’t need to worry about installing WordPress or managing servers because Bluehost has got you covered on that front (and they even provide you with automated monthly backups).
The next tool we will discuss is Joomla. If you are looking for a free solution, then Joomla is a great choice because not only do they offer a free hosted solution, but they are also incredibly popular and robust — which means more chances for you to find the perfect template for your needs. (This is important because it will save you a great deal of time from learning how to make basic changes to the design of your site.)
Step 1: Register a Domain Name
The first step in the process is to register a.com or.net domain name for your website. You can do this at any of the popular domain registrars such as GoDaddy, Network Solutions, or Register.com.
Once you have a domain name, you can use it to set up your website’s URL (uniform resource locator — where the web address of your site will be located). For example, the url of this site is https://woocommerceguru.com.
Step 2: Install WordPress
Now that you have a domain and a web hosting account, you can install WordPress on your computer. If you are using a Mac, install the WordPress app from the App Store. On Windows, install WordPress from the Windows Store.
The next step is to register your newly installed WordPress with a security certificate. To do this, visit the WordPress dashboard and click on the Settings option in the top right corner. From here, you can click on the “Protect Your Site” option and follow the onscreen instructions. This will help ensure that your WordPress website is safe from hackers and that all your online visitor’s information is kept secure.
Once your WordPress install is protected, you can click on the dashboard option in the top right corner and begin setting up your site. You can do this by clicking on the “Create a New Post” option located towards the bottom of the screen.
From here, you will see a search bar on the right. Type in the topic you are interested in (for example, “best wireless speakers for 2019”) and click on the enter key on your keyboard to search the blogosphere for content.
Step 3: Install Joomla!
Joomla! is a free and open-source content management system built on MySQL and PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor — the scripting language that powers most websites). In addition to being a content management system, Joomla! is also a web application that you can use to build your website. One of the unique things about Joomla! is that it provides you with an incredible amount of functionality out of the box.
If you are looking for a free solution, then Joomla! is a great choice because not only do they offer a free web host, but they also provide you with a fully functioning WordPress and Joomla! install that you can use to build your site.
To install Joomla! on your computer, visit the Joomla! website and click on the icon that looks like a gear icon. This will bring you to the Downloads page where you can download the latest stable version of Joomla! (At the time of this writing, that would be version 3.9).
Once you have downloaded the latest stable version of Joomla!, you can unzip the file and install the application on your computer using the instructions that are included in the archive. (Make sure you remove the compressed folder afterwards.)
To launch the Joomla! application, click on the Start button, type in joomla.exe (or just use the default web browser and search for joomla) and press enter.
If you are using Chrome, you will see a security alert pop up because the Joomla! web server is not trusted. You can either click the “Add to Chrome’s Trusted Sites” button or choose the “Security Alert” option from the dropdown menu and then click “Accept” to continue to the website. (If you select “Never Ask Again,” you will not be able to visit the site from that point forward without being asked to accept the security alert — even if you are using a different browser or computer.)
Step 4: Customize Your Site
You now have a WordPress site with a few posts (blog articles) that you can use to build upon. It’s time to start customizing your site!
One of the best things about WordPress is that it is extremely user-friendly and can be used to build almost any type of site you could think of. The best part is that you don’t need any specialized knowledge to use it. (WordPress is incredibly popular because it is easy to use and offers so much flexibility.)
If you have never used WordPress, then this may be a bit overwhelming because there are so many different options and setups you can choose from. That’s why we’re going to discuss how to create a simple but stylish website using the tool. (If you follow these simple steps, you will end up with a functional and stylish website that will serve your needs. Don’t worry, we’ll discuss the options for you.)
