How to Maintain a WordPress Site
You may be familiar with the term “blogger’s block.” Wherever you are in the world, if you’re a blogger you will undoubtedly know what it is. You wake up one day and you simply cannot think of anything to write about. It’s not a matter of whether or not you will post, it’s simply a case of whether or not you will think of anything at all.
For those who have ever been in this situation, they may know that it’s not unusual for the creative process to grind to a halt for a few hours, maybe even a day or two. When this happens, it can be extremely frustrating because there’s literally nothing you can do to will the ideas to flow. Eventually, you’ll end up writing something just to have something to post, and then you’ll feel better because at least you had something published despite the block.
If this sounds like you, don’t worry, it’s not actually as bad as it sounds. Believe it or not, there are certain things you can do to help your creativity flourish when hit with a writer’s block. In this article, we’ll discuss five of them.
Consult With More Experienced Bloggers
With experience comes wisdom, and when you’re stuck for words, it’s often wise to go back to the people who know more about the topic than you do. Even if you don’t agree with everything they have to say, you can learn a lot from talking to them. Getting out of your head and into your heart will increase the chances of your creative juices flowing again, so don’t be afraid to reach out to some of the top bloggers in your niche.
Change Your Headspace
If you find that you get stuck in a rut with your writing, changing your headspace can help. Just because you’ve had a breakthrough doesn’t mean that you should simply jump into the next thing that comes along. Take a step back and try something new. If you’ve always written lyrics, try writing a novel. If you’ve always written comedy, try writing a dramatic story. It could be that your current style isn’t the best fit for what you want to express, so changing your headspace will help you find the right words to use.
Play Some Silly Games
When I started out as a blogger, I used to get really frustrated with writer’s block. I would sit down at my computer and absolutely nothing would come out. To pass the time, I would play some word games on Google Play. One of my favorites was Rummy, where letters are randomly placed on a board and you have to score as many points as you can by making words using the letters on the board. I would put the word “Rummy” in the search bar and instantly, I’d be transported to the game. It was an easy way to unwind after a stressful day and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Take A Breaks
When you’re finally able to write again after what feels like an eternity, take a break. Even if you just take a little break, get up and wander around for a while. Go for a walk, get a coffee, or play a round of golf. You’re bound to come back with some new ideas, and once you do, you’ll be able to write again without any problems.
Don’t Be Foolish
If you’re struggling with writer’s block, I would advise you against using it as an excuse to avoid working hard. If you’re putting in the effort anyway, why not try something new to break the monotony? If you hate what you do, don’t be afraid to try something new. In most cases, the fear of change is what holds us back from being better than we actually can be. If you want to change, you have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone. Writer’s block is not a disease, it’s a symptom. You’re experiencing it because you’re doing nothing that you enjoy, so it’s time for you to find your passion and work hard to make it happen. Use this time to grow as a person and as a writer, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. You’ll be glad you did.
