Why Can’t Other Countries See My Website on WordPress?
I get a lot of questions about my blog. Some ask how I keep my sanity with all the work, some ask if I’m a work-a-holic and some ask if it’s really worth it. It’s always surprising to me when someone asks me these questions because it’s such a different world when you’re living on your own terms. You make the most important decisions regarding your life and you have complete control over the way you want to live. That’s something to celebrate!
However, there are certain things that you’ll never be able to control. One of those things is the global pandemic that we’re currently experiencing. Due to lockdowns and travel restrictions, a lot of us are unable to venture outside. As a result, many are turning to the internet for entertainment and news. If you’re a business owner, blogger or content creator, you’ll undoubtedly be affected by this.
When the pandemic first began, I noticed that a lot of my blog traffic came from other countries. I had a lot of new readers that I didn’t know personally. It was certainly a pleasant surprise to see so many international readers given the circumstances that we’re all living in. Since then, I’ve continued to see an increase in my readership from countries that I’ll call out specific by name. Let’s take a look at the top five most popular blog posts from these countries.
1. How to deal with workplace bullies
Bullying is a sensitive subject for many people, myself included. When writing this blog post, I wasn’t sure how I’d received so many comments and how seriously people took the matter. After some deliberation, I decided to include photos of myself to show how ridiculous the bullies seemed when compared to me. When you’re over 6 feet tall and weigh more than 200 pounds, it’s hard to see how you could be taken seriously by anyone!
The reason this post was so popular with readers from China and Indonesia was because they have a lot of cultural and social differences compared to readers from the United States. In these countries, it’s not uncommon for men to show respect for women by displaying a certain degree of deference and sensitivity. Many Chinese and Indonesians readers felt that my advice on how to deal with bullies was an important piece of advice in these trying times. Thank you!
2. How to be a successful content creator
This blog post was popular with readers from the Netherlands primarily because they have a very high tolerance for sarcasm. Not too many people can pull off being funny while talking about serious issues. I have a very dry sense of humor that I try to inject into every blog post. I think it makes the content easier to digest. My Dutch readers really enjoyed my wit!
One of the topics that I covered in this post was how to become successful as a content creator. I discussed the importance of picking your audience and niche, how to build a mailing list and how to use email marketing to grow your audience. My advice on becoming a content creator was certainly applicable to anyone wanting to do so. Especially now during this pandemic, as the demand for online content grows, it’s important to have a presence online to capture the attention of prospective customers.
3. Why I Won’t Be Giving A Lot of Fancy Gifts This Christmas
This blog post was a little unusual in that it wasn’t specifically about my personal life. However, it’s the reason why I rarely give gifts this holiday season. I wrote this post during the Christmas holidays of 2020, so it was likely read by many this holiday season as well as the next. I usually don’t like to spend a lot of money on others even if they’re close to me, so this year I won’t be giving many gifts. It’s not that I don’t have any sympathy for those who are looking for gifts for their loved ones. It’s that I don’t want to spend a lot of money when I can’t afford it. Especially since a lot of my readers are struggling financially right now. A lot of my friends are, too. It’s a difficult time for a lot of us.
If you’re looking for a present for someone, consider getting something practical and useful. They might not want something trendy or expensive that they can’t use.
4. How to make your life feel more luxurious
This blog post was a real eye-opener to me. I’ve always considered myself to be a fairly wealthy person, especially since I grew up in a well-off family. However, I had no idea how much of a difference my everyday decisions would make in how I felt. When I decided to write this blog post, I wanted to share my journey of how to make your life feel more luxurious. After I wrote the post, I began to notice how much more I enjoyed doing things that I normally don’t have the time to do. Eating an extra piece of chocolate every night feels like an indulgence, but I also enjoy it when I sit down to dinner with my family and enjoy a glass of wine with them. It’s important to not feel bad about these luxuries because they make your life feel richer. Your everyday choices matter!
These are just a few examples of the types of blog posts that I get questions about the most. It’s always great to hear that my content is helping people and that it’s making a difference. I love being able to give advice and help people feel less alone during these trying times. Hopefully, my blog can continue to provide comfort to those who visit it. Even if it’s just one person who found some peace of mind from my words, it’s all worthwhile.
