How to List PDF Files on Your Website Using a WordPress Plugin

PDF files are great for storing documents that you need to hand out or send around. They are quite small in size which makes them perfect for mobile use too. If you’re using a desktop computer or a laptop to access the internet, you can just right click on a PDF file and then select “Open In Reader” to open it in your default PDF reader.

However, if you’re using a smartphone or a tablet to access the internet, you can’t just open a PDF file by clicking on it. You’ll need to use a different app to see the contents. Fortunately, there are a few WordPress plugins that can help you list and download all PDF files from your websites.

In this article, you’ll learn how to use one such WordPress plugin to list and download all PDF files from your websites. You’ll also discover how to integrate this feature into your WordPress dashboard.

Before You Begin

Before you begin, you must have a WordPress account set up. If you don’t have one yet, you can sign up for a free Mozilla account.

Once you’re signed up, you can log in to your WordPress dashboard. You can then begin installing the PDF List plugin from WordPress.com/plugins.

Installing And Activating The PDF List Plugin

When the plugin installation bar appears at the top of your WordPress dashboard, click on it to start the process.

The next step is to activate the plugin. To do this, simply click on the button that says “Activate this plugin.”

Your dashboard should now look similar to the one in the image below. You can close this panel once you’re done configuring the plugin.

Configuring The Plugin

The next step is to configure the plugin. To do this, click on the gear icon to the right of the plugin’s name. This will open up a menu of options. From here, you can configure various settings for the plugin.

The first setting to configure is the one that asks for you to choose a folder in which to save all pdf files. Notice that the plugin defaults to saving files to a folder called “PDFs.” If you’d rather save your PDF files in a different location, you can change the default here.

The next option to configure is the “Download All PDF Files” setting. By default, this setting is set to “All files,” which means that the plugin will download all PDF files from your websites. However, you can change this to “Only the most recent X downloads,” or “Only the most recent Y downloads.”

By changing these settings, you can control how many files the plugin will download and when it will download them. You can also add some additional criteria, such as the name of the file or the date on which the file was last modified.

Once you’ve set these options, click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page.

Listing And Downloading PDF Files

Once you’ve configured the plugin, you can start using it. To list and download all PDF files from your websites, just navigate to the directory that contains your website’s files. For example, if you’re on a WordPress install at blog.yourwebsite.com, the URL will be blog.yourwebsite.com. If you’re not sure where your website’s files are located, you can use the Get Started feature to find your way to the admin area of WordPress.

Once there, you can use the WordPress app to locate the files that contain your content. You’ll find a PDF icon at the top of the list of documents. Simply click on this icon to see all of the files associated with your WordPress account.

From here, you can edit any of these files to change the way they look or to add more content. When you’re done, just click on the “Publish” button at the top of the screen.

All of your PDF files will now be listed on your website. You can sort them by name, rating, or date added to make it easier to find the documents you’re looking for. You can also download any one of the files directly from your WordPress dashboard.

If you’d like, you can integrate this feature into your WordPress dashboard. To do this, navigate to the My Dashboard section of your WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll find various admin tools and features that you can use to configure your website.

To integrate this feature into your WordPress dashboard, click on the “Appearance” button at the top of the page. This will open up a menu of options. From here, you can add custom CSS stylesheets to your WordPress website. You can also add apps that will integrate with the dashboard and other features of WordPress. You can choose from a variety of different apps, such as Google Maps, YouTube, and more.

Once you’ve added all of these components, click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to confirm your changes.

WordPress stores the login details for your websites in a database that can be accessed by anyone with the appropriate permissions. This can be a problem if you do not want others to be able to access this information. Fortunately, the plugin offers some security options that allows you to restrict access to the download feature.

First, you can require users to log in to access the download feature. To do this, simply navigate to the My Dashboard section of your WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll find various configurable options. Look for the “Login Required” box near the top of the page. If this box is checked, visitors will need to log in to access the download feature.

Second, you can require users to enter a code before they can access the download feature. This is known as a “security code” and is usually a six to eight digit number. To set one up, navigate to the My Dashboard section of your WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll find various configurable options. Look for the “Two Factor Authentication” box near the top of the page.

Third, you can restrict users’ access to the download feature based on their roles. To do this, navigate to the My Dashboard section of your WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll find various configurable options. Look for the “Restrict Access” box near the top of the page.

Finally, you can reset this information directly from your WordPress dashboard. This will prevent other users from having to log in to access the download feature in the future. To do this, visit the My Dashboard section of your WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll find various configurable options. Look for the “Forgot Password” link at the top of the page. This will give you the ability to reset your WordPress login details directly from your dashboard.

You can also use the plugin to upload documents to your websites. Simply navigate to the admin area of WordPress, locate the file that you’d like to upload, and then click on the “Upload” button at the top of the page.

This will open up a file selection dialog box. Navigate to the folder that contains the files you’d like to upload and then select the files. Click on the “Add files” button to start the upload process.
